Take it outside
Moonlight Movies, your regular night-time snogg fest, is back
As the days cool and the nights become more bearable, evening activities are becoming all the rage. Barbeques are firing up, al fresco dining is reservation only and the city’s workers are flicking off their wing tips to walk barefoot on any strip of grass they can get their toes into. Now, how about combining the perfect nocturnal temperature with a classic film, one filled with cultish quotes and surreal scenery?
Enter Moonlight Movies, the seasonal outdoor cinema that takes place in the well-intentioned (if not well-attended) waterside Cyberport Podium, in Pok Fu Lam. The line up includes Apocalypse Now (you know, “I love the smell of napalm in the morning!”), Wall Street (“I'm tapped out Marv. American Express' got a hit man lookin' for me” – sound familiar?) and, God forbid, Sex & the City (“Some labels are best left in the closet”). This outdoor cinema is complete with bar service and bean bags, making for as great a man-date as traditional step-out, although it already has a reputation for those end-of-summer flings where human suction cups seemingly listen to the movie without ever seeing the screen. Alas, in typical Hong Kong style, this simplistic and romantic idea doesn’t come cheap, at HK$200 per head (food and drinks not included).
Then again, who can put a price on love?
