Galaxy Macau

[27/04/11]

The extraordinary Galaxy Macau opened on May 15, comprising three hotels and a stellar casino - which is just as well really, because we love a good suite nearly as much as gambling. Of course you don’t want to be the muppet on the end of the blackjack table ruining the game for the seasoned pros sitting next to you - who make the seat about as attractive as bathing in stinky tofu - but that feeling when you hit big and have your first hug with your bundle of chips is unmatched.

The Galaxy Casino floor is epic and has been laid out intelligently. Unlike most casinos which make their gaming area as difficult to get out of as Causeway Bay MTR station, the Galaxy’s is one straight line. This line also splits the Galaxy Macau in two. On one side you have the Galaxy Hotel and on the other side the Banyan Tree Macau and the Hotel Okura Macau. Every suite in the Banyan Tree contains a relaxation pool while Okura is defined by clean, Japanese styling. They’re perfect spots for you to spunk your winnings – and for The Man to take back your money.

There are also over 50 restaurants in the complex but the most interesting feature of the HK$14.9 billion project is the al fresco area. It centres round the world’s largest wave pool which generates waves up to 1.5 metres high. What’s more, it’s framed by cabanas, pool bars and a 350-tonne, sandy beach for you to play Pablo Escobar with your recently acquired fortune.

100 bucks on red wouldn’t hurt…
