Cranberries Live in HK Irish Band Performing in April

[15/02/12]

The Cranberries are a great band, a proper band - none of this X-Factor cover of a classic rubbish - and they'll be performing in Hong Kong on April 8. Three guesses for where they're playing? Actually it's not the Expo as you might expect but the HKCEC in Wan Chai which is infinitely more appealing. A 15 minute journey is all Hong Kongers can handle before it's officially called an expedition under the auspices of the Royal Geographic Society.

The Irish four-piece band, fronted by eternal babe Dolores O'Riordan, is releasing their first studio album in a decade and the HK leg forms part of the accompanying tour. Apart from new jingles you'll hear all the classics like Zombie, Linger and Dreams that saw them shift over 30 million career records. That's an exceptional number if you come from anywhere but China and for good reason. Dolores's voice shimmers with a dreamy Irish accent - and it's very arousing indeed.

Tickets begin at HK$580 which is par for the course (blame illegal downloaders) but at least you won't have to fork out for the Airport Express. It follows the band's reunion tour in 2010 and look like it will be an absolute belter. To complete the mood you just need to assemble a group of formerly radical friends (turned bankers) and drift back to the sounds of an unstable Ireland.

Yester year.
