Norman Jay Playing at Drop Norman Jay Playing in Drop Tomorrow

[13/05/11]

Norman Jay, the legendary British DJ, is to play the headlining Saturday session in Drop, bringing to Hong Kong a wealth of talent and experience as rare in these parts as civil disobedience. He’s a man who makes even the most fossilized of party-goers get up and test their new hip, grooving around to his musical madness. A man distinguished by the diversity of his influences - as colourful and numerous as Hong Kong public holidays - Jay was awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002, a prestigious, honorary title.

He is the godfather of the Rare Groove scene which emerged in the late 80s, launched the pirate radio station, Kiss FM (then took it legal), brought House music to London, and helped establish the Good Times Sound System which stars at Notting Hill Carnival each year playing funk, soul and disco… the list goes on. It’s a CV that would make Mother Theresa blush.

He’ll be playing alongside DJ’s Eric Byron and Janva Tam, making it a tremendous night to record the game on Now TV and go wild. Drop features an intense dance floor which makes it the perfect venue if you like a bit of a work-out while you're raging, but if you prefer a more sedate evening you can always enjoy the tables circling the melee. Or watch Now TV.

Drop it like it’s hot.
