Naked Stables Private Reserve Striking Eco Resort Opens

[12/01/12]

Naked Stables Private Reserve is a new retreat that’s opened two and a half hours from Shanghai. It’s set on a nature reserve, and although there’s something unpleasant about promoting greenness as a commercial quality, it’s eco-friendly. You can enjoy everything from hiking to horse riding but who does activities on holiday? White dressing gowns and baths longer than episodes of The Wire. That’s holisitic.

You can stay in treetop villas or earthuts from HK$2,600/night but you get a second night free which is pretty good value for a weekend break. There are various eating and drinking options as well as three swimming pools on top of the private Jacuzzis in some of the rooms. It sits in a hilly valley which is striking save for the greyness in the photos. Why did they not take them on a sunny day?

They have a spa where you can tuck into programmes combining diet, exercise and massage and you’ll also find a stables for equestrian pursuits. If you’re on a romantic break it’s a bit too much for our taste to go horse back riding but at least it’s not on a sandy white beach. You can also do calligraphy classes, archery, fishing or tea picking so you’ll have a packed schedule outside of bath time.

Relaxation and relaxation.
