Silolona Sojourns Sail Round Indonesia on a Special Schooner

[20/05/11]

You can saunter round Indonesia on a gorgeous schooner called Silolona, a Balinese vessel that’ll transport you to a bygone era when Hong Kong featured beautiful buildings, 'a mobile' meant you couldn't move, and people washed bi-annually. Except of course you’ll be doing it in the lap of luxury with spa therapists to touch you, cooks to feed you and your blackberry hidden under a heap of salty swimwear.

Silolona is a gorgeous schooner, a fact only made better by our love of the word ‘schooner’. It makes you talk like Sean Connery. Handmade by local boat-builders that would make Roman Abramovich’s shipyard down tools and pay attention, Silolona comprises five suites (including three king size suites) and three on-deck lounges.

Perhaps the best feature is her on board PADI dive centre – a unique treat for such an adventure – but the experience is also made special by the routes available. You can take in the Komodo Archipelago to play David Attenborough or cruise round the Spice Islands – a former favourite of the Dutch East India Co.

Because you get to choose your own schedule, you can frankly go wherever you want - which is not only an essential refinement at this level of travel but particularly enjoyable on board a boat where cries include “hard to starboard!” It'll turn you into a child again.

She's waiting for your call.
